In this scenario, the customer adds a TGM550 when a router already connects a site to the
customer's LAN or WAN and the customer adds either a communications system or a new
location to an existing communications system.

Checking Juniper firmware compatibility

The software for the J-series router must be release 8.4 or higher. If it is not, upgrade the router
software to release 8.4 before continuing with the installation. See the Juniper J2320, J2350,
J4350, and J6350 Services Router Getting Started Guide, Release 8.4.

CAUTION:
Neither the Telephony Interface Modules (TIMs) nor the TGM550 should be

inserted into the J-series router before you are sure the router is running release
8.4 or higher. Failure to comply with this caution may cause your system to
become inoperable.
Also, check what Juniper software is compatible with the specific TGM550 firmware load you
are downloading. You might need to install newer router firmware before you install new
TGM550 firmware.
