16.2.1 How to Debug Using Inspection Logs

Use this procedure to debug using the inspection logs and the configuration from the iVu. Using the inspection logs and
configuration file is helpful when evaluating intermittent failures.
This procedure requires a USB flash drive and a USB cable, PSG-4M-4xx-USB (see
1. Connect a USB cable to the iVu device.
2. Connect a USB flash drive to the USB cable.
3. Save the Inspection Logs to the USB flash drive.
a) Go to Main Menu > Inspection Logs > View Logs, and click the Save button to save the inspection logs.
b) When prompted, click Yes to save device configuration along with the Inspection Logs.
The location of these files on the USB flash drive displays after the operation is completed. The Inspection Logs are
saved in [USB:]\BANNER\[SENSOR_NAME]\InspLog and the device configuration is saved in [USB:]\BANNER\
[SENSOR_NAME]. For example, if the device name is
Configuration File (CONFIG.CFG) path: [USB:]\BANNER\myName
Inspection Logs path: [USB:]\BANNER\myName\InspLog
Note: If the device name is longer than eight characters, only the first eight characters are used in
the folder name. If the device has no name, the folder name is the first eight characters of the
device serial number.
4. Disconnect the USB flash drive from the iVu device.
5. Connect the USB flash drive to a Windows PC that has Vision Manager installed.
6. If desired, Inspection Log files or bitmap files previously stored on the PC can be copied to the InspLog folder on
the USB flash drive.
7. Start Vision Manager and click Emulators.
8. For the desired Emulator, click
saved. For example, [USB:]\BANNER\myName.
9. Click
to connect to the Emulator.
The Emulator runs with the configuration on the USB flash drive using the saved Inspection Logs in the InspLog
folder. Inspections occur depending the Trigger Mode settings.
10. Make the desired adjustments to the inspection or inspections.
11. On the Home screen, click
All configuration changes are automatically saved to the CONFIG.CFG file on the USB flash drive.
12. Disconnect the USB flash drive from the PC.
13. Connect the USB flash drive to the iVu device.
14. Restore the configuration to the iVu device.
a) Go to Main Menu > System > Sensor Configuration > Load Configuration.
b) Select the configuration to restore.
c) Click Load to start the restore device configuration.
d) Restart the device when the restore is complete.

16.2.2 How to Debug Using Bitmap Files

Use this procedure to debug using bitmap (.bmp) files stored on a PC. The .bmp files are commonly saved to a PC through
the Image Export function over Ethernet I/O.

1. Connect a USB cable to the iVu device.
2. Connect a USB flash drive to the USB cable.
3. Go to Main Menu > System > Configuration > Save to USB and click the Save button
The device configuration is saved to the USB flash drive. The location of these files on the USB flash drive displays
after the operation is completed. The configuration file is saved in the [USB:]\BANNER\[SENSOR_NAME] folder.
For example, if the device name is myName, the configuration file (CONFIG.CFG) path is [USB:]\BANNER\myName
