lgnition Gontrol Module (lCM) Input Test
NOTE:
. See section 11 when the mallunction indicator lamp
(MlL) turned on.
. Perform an input test for the ignition control module
( l C M ) a f t e r f i n i s h i n g t h e f u n d a m e n t a l t e s t s f o r t h e
ignition system and the fuel and emissions systems.
1. Remove the distributor ignition {Dl) cap, the distrib
utor ignition (Dl) rotor and the leak cover (TECl.

Disconnect the wires from the lCM.
HITACHI:
BLK/YEL
BLU'WIRE
YEL/GRN WIRE
TEC:
BLK/YEL WIRE

3 . Turn the ignition switch ON (ll). Check for voltage
between the BLK//EL wire and body ground.
There should be battery voltage.

lf there is no battery voltage, check the BLK/YEL
wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and
t h e I C M .
. lI there is battery voltage, go to step 4.
Turn the ignition switch ON (ll). Check tor voltage
between the wire*r and body ground.
There should be battery voltage.

lf there is no batteryvoltage, check:
- t h e i g n i t i o n c o i l .
- t h e * r w i r e b e t w e e n t h e i g n i t i o n c o i l a n d t h e
t c M .

lf there is battery voltage, go to step 5.

WHT/BLU wire (TEc)
Disconnect the ECM/PCM connector A 132P). Chec.
f o r c o n t i n u i t y o n t h e Y E L / G R N w i r e b e t w e e n t l " .
ECI\I/PCM and the lCM.
There should be contanuity.
Check for continuity on the YEL/GRN wire to boc,
g r o u n d .
There should be no continuity.
C h e c k f o r c o n t i n u i t y o n t h e B L U r w i r e b e t w e e n t h e
test tachometer connector and the lcM.
There should be continuity.
Check for continuity on the BLU' wire to body ground
There should be no continuity.
lf all the tests are normal, replace the lCM.
