Using Condition Groups in Policies
This command specifies that port 2/1 will be deleted from the techpubs port group at the next qos apply.
To delete a port group, use the no form of the policy port group command with the relevant port group
name. The port group must not be associated with any policy condition. For example:
-> no policy port group techpubs
The port group techpubs will be deleted at the next qos apply. If techpubs is associated with a policy
condition, an error message will display instead:
ERROR: techpubs is being used by condition 'cond4'
In this case, remove the port group from the condition first; then enter the no policy port group
command. For example:
-> policy condition cond4 no source port group
-> no policy port group techpubs
The policy condition command removes the port group from the policy condition. (See

be deleted at the next qos apply.

Port Groups and Minimum/Maximum Bandwidth

Minimum/maximum bandwidth policies are applied to source (ingress) ports and port groups on a per-port
basis. For example, if a policy specifies a maximum bandwidth value of 10K, each port in the group will
use this value as its maximum bandwidth.
Although destination (egress) ports and port groups may be specified within a policy, the maximum band-
width value is not effected on these ports. To limit the bandwidth on egress ports, use the
mum bandwidth
command. For example,
-> qos port 1/1 maximum bandwidth 10k
Note the following regarding minimum/maximum bandwidth policies:
Minimum bandwidth policy rules have the highest precedence of all rules and cannot be overridden.
Defining a minimum bandwidth value implies a maximum bandwidth that is of the same value.
Policy-based ingress bandwidth limiting is done using a granularity of 64K bps.
Egress bandwidth limiting defined using the qos port maximum bandwidth command is done using a
granularity of 1M bps.
The following subsections provide examples of maximum bandwidth policies using both source and desti-
nation port groups.
Source Port Group Example
In the following example, a port group (pgroup) is created with two ports and attached to a policy condi-
tion (Ports). A policy action with maximum bandwidth is created (MaxBw). The policy condition and
policy action are combined in a policy rule called PortRule.
-> policy port group pgroup 1/1-2
-> policy condition Ports source port group pgroup
-> policy action MaxBw maximum bandwidth 10k
-> policy rule PortRule condition Ports action MaxBw
In this example, if both ports 1 and 2 are active ports, 10000 bps is sent over each port.
