Chapter 4 REGISTRATION MARK SETTINGS AND DETECTION
4.1 Outline of the Registration Mark Function
The regstraton mark functon allows you to algn the orentaton of the plotter's X and Y axes wth the
coordnate axes on a medum that s pre-prnted wth regstraton marks or other marks. The plotter uses
a sensor to read the regstraton marks prnted on the meda, and then adjusts the axes to match the
coordnate data so that cuttng can be performed on pre-prnted meda wthout any shft between the prnt
and cut data.
Regstraton marks are the L-shaped marks that are postoned to enclose a prnted mage. They are generally used
for trmmng prnted materal or for the algnment of color separatons for prntng. Wth ths plotter, however, they are
used to algn the prnted data and the poston of the medum.
For automatc recognton of regstraton marks, ther lne wdth must range from 0.5 to 1.0 mm.
The plotter may not be able to accurately read regstraton marks n the followng cases f:
• A color other than black was used for the regstraton marks.
• The registration mark line is blurred.
• There s dust or other foregn matter n the readng area.
• The medium floats up from the writing panel.
When usng a medum that s not sutable for automatc regstraton mark detecton, use manual regstraton mark
detecton nstead.
