Chapter 6 TROUBLESHOOTING
6.1 Troubleshooting
The Plotter is Turned On But Doesn't Operate
Symptom
The control panel's POWER lamp
does not lght.
Nothng appears on the LCD panel.
The Cutting/Plotting Results are Unsatisfactory
Symptom
The cut corners are rounded or too
ponted.
The cut lne starts out crooked.
The blade skps and does not
completely cut lnes that should be
sold.
Sold lnes are not cut at a constant
depth. (Slght skppng of the blade)
Coarse resoluton of curved lnes.
The cuttng medum curls up at the
corners.
The cuttng medum peels away
from the backng sheet when
cuttng small characters.
The cutter blade s cuttng nto the
backng sheet.
The cutter blade falls out of the
cutter plunger.
The medum can be cut but s hard
to weed afterward.
The cut medum cannot be pcked
up usng a transfer sheet.
Abnormal nose generated by the
cutter pen durng cuttng.
The medum s dscolored where
the cutter blade has passed.

Cause
The plotter s not beng suppled wth power.
The plotter s defectve.
Cause
The OFFSET s ncompatble wth the cutter
blade beng used.
The cutter blade does not rotate smoothly.
The Offset Cut Pressure s too low.
The sprng has come loose from the cutter
blade. (CB09UA, CB15U-SP)
The cutter blade has fallen out. (Cutter
blades excludng CB09UA and CB15U-SP)
The cutter blade s extended too far.
The cuttng SPEED s too hgh.
The output data resoluton s too low.
The blade offset angle s too small.
The cutter blade s extended too far.
The OFFSET s ncompatble wth the cutter
blade beng used.
The cuttng SPEED s too hgh.
The blade s dull.
The QUALITY settng s too hgh.
The cutter blade s extended too far.
The cuttng FORCE s too hgh.
The cutter blade s the ncorrect dameter for
the plunger.
Insufficient grease. (CB15U)
The transfer sheet is not sufficiently
adhesve.
The medum gets entangled durng cuttng.
Weedng of the cut medum was postponed
too long.
The medum s stuck n the tp of the plunger.
Check that the power cord s securely
connected to the plotter's AC lne nlet and to
the electrcal outlet.
Contact your sales representatve or nearest
Graphtec dealer.

Adjust the OFFSET value.
If t s too low, the corners become rounded.
If t s too hgh, the corners are too ponted.
Grease the cutter blade and holder. (CB15U)
Remove any foregn matter nsde the holder.
Rase the Offset Cut Pressure settng.
* The Offset Cut Pressure is separate from the
cutting FORCE
Replace the cutter blade wth a new one
fitted with a spring.
Grease the cutter blade and holder.
Adjust the blade length.
Lower the SPEED settng.
Increase the output data resoluton.
Increase the blade offset angle.
Adjust the blade length.
Adjust the OFFSET value.
Lower the cuttng SPEED settng.
Replace the cutter blade.
Lower the QUALITY settng.
Adjust the blade length.
Lower the FORCE settng.
Use a cutter blade that matches the
plunger's dameter.
Grease the cutter blade and holder.
Swtch to a transfer sheet wth greater
adheson.
Reduce the blade length.
Lower the cuttng FORCE.
Promptly weed the cut medum.
Adjust the blade length and the cuttng
FORCE settng.
