3.2 Connecting to your Computer
Ether the USB or the RS-232C nterface may be used to connect the plotter to your computer. Select whch
nterface to use accordng to the requrements of your applcaton software and/or whch of your computer's
nterface ports are avalable for use.
Use a USB cable or an RS-232C cable n accordance wth the nterface chosen. Obtan a Graphtec-
approved nterface cable that s compatble wth your computer.
USB connection
To use the USB nterface, A USB drver must be nstalled n your computer. Please refer to the CD-ROM provded wth
your plotter for nstructons on how to nstall the USB drver.
Applicable operating systems
•
Wndows 2000 Professonal, Wndows XP, Wndows Vsta
Note: Windows 3.1/95/Me and Windows NT are not supported
Operaton cannot be guaranteed n the followng cases:
•
When connecton has been made to a USB hub or an add-on USB board
•
When you are using a custom-built computer or one that you have modified
•
When a drver other than the one provded was used
Be sure to observe the followng:
•
Do not connect or dsconnect the USB cable whle you are nstallng the USB drver
•
Do not connect or dsconnect the USB cable whle startng up the computer or the plotter
•
Do not dsconnect the USB cable wthn a 5-second perod of connectng t
•
Do not connect or dsconnect the USB cable whle data s beng transferred
•
Do not connect multple plotters to a sngle computer
RS-232C connection
Set the transmsson condtons and format for recevng data when you use the RS-232C nterface to connect the
plotter to your computer. (Please see Sectons 5.5, "Settng the Transmsson Condtons" and 5.6 "Settng the Format
for Recevng Data" for further detals.)
