Chapter 3 PREPARATIONS FOR CUTTING/PLOTTING
3.5 Tilting the Writing Panel
Ths plotter can be used wth the wrtng panel tlted up to 60°. The tlt can be adjusted n the followng way.
When using an MG (magnetic hold-down) or ES (electrostatic adhesion) model in a tilted position, please observe the
following points.
A position alarm is generated if a key reset operation is performed when the plotter is in a tilted position. Be sure to
move the pen carriage down to its lowermost position before performing a key reset operation.
If the power is turned off when the pen carriage is located in the upper part of the writing panel, the pen carriage will
slide down and hit the bottom edge of the plotter. Be sure to move the pen carriage down to its lowermost position
before turning off the power.
The writing panels of VC (vacuum) models cannot be tilted.
(1) Make sure the power s turned off.
(2) Grasp the tlt lever located under the wrtng panel and move t to tlt the panel. (The 180 type has two tlt levers; use
them both at the same tme to tlt the panel.)

(3) When the wrtng panel s postoned at the desred angle for workng, release the tlt lever(s). The wrtng panel wll
be locked n place at that angle.
Even though the FORCE values are the same, the actual cutting force is different depending on whether the writing
panel is tilted or horizontal. Therefore, after changing the tilt angle, the cutting force should be readjusted. As a
guideline, raise the FORCE value by an increment of 2 when the writing panel is moved from the horizontal position to
the maximum tilt angle.
