Gateway Description

The MediaPack series analog VoIP gateways are cost-effective, cutting edge technology
products. These stand-alone analog VoIP gateways provide superior voice technology for
connecting legacy telephones, fax machines and PBX systems with IP-based telephony
networks, as well as for integration with new IP-based PBX architecture. These products
are designed and tested to be fully interoperable with leading softswitches and SIP servers.
The MediaPack gateways are best suited for small to medium size enterprises, branch
offices or for residential media gateway solutions. The MediaPack gateways enable users
to make free local or international telephone / fax calls between the distributed company
offices, using their existing telephones / fax. These calls are routed over the existing
network ensuring that voice traffic uses minimum bandwidth.
The MediaPack gateways support SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) protocol, enabling the
deployment of 'voice over IP' solutions in environments where each enterprise or
residential location is provided with a simple media gateway. This provides the enterprise
with a telephone connection (i.e., RJ-11 connector), and the capability to transmit voice
and telephony signals over a packet network.
The MediaPack gateways incorporate up to 24 analog ports for direct connection to an
enterprise's PBX (FXO), or / and to phones, fax machines and modems (FXS), supporting
up to 24 simultaneous VoIP calls. In addition, the MediaPack gateways are equipped with a
10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port for connection to the network. The MediaPack gateways
also provide LED indicators, providing status information of the various interfaces.
The MediaPack gateways are very compact devices that can be mounted on a desktop,
wall, or in a 19-inch rack.
The MediaPack provides a variety of management and provisioning tools such as an
embedded HTTP-based Web server, Telnet, and SNMP. The user-friendly, embedded
HTTP-based Web server provides remote configuration using a standard Web browser
(such as Microsoft™ Internet Explorer™ or Netscape™ Navigator™), from anywhere in the
world with IP connectivity to the gateway.
