Perform all actions before exchanging Failing Items
448F System backplane is faulty. Probability is high.
Perform the following steps before replacing the system
backplane:
1. Check locations M06, M16, and M18 for the
Processor Terminator/filler card, CCIN=246C.
2. Are there any processor Terminator/filler cards in
the system?
NO
YES
3. Turn the system power off if it is not already turned
off.
4. Remove all the Processor Terminator/filler cards.
Use the locations to determine the positions of the
other processor Terminator/filler cards.
5. Select SLOW IPL speed. See operator panel
commands.
6. Power on the system.
7. Does the system boot successfully?
NO
YES
8. Power off the system.
9. Reinstall one of the processor terminator/filler cards
that you removed.
10. Power on the system.
11. Does the system boot successfully?
NO
YES
12. Have you reinstalled all the processor
terminator/filler cards that you removed?
NO
YES
4490 RIO Port 0 or the RIO cable connected to it is faulty.
Probability is high.
Replace the failing item.
Continue with the following step.
Replace the failing item.
Continue with the following step.
The failing FRU is the processor
terminator/filler card you just reinstalled.
Exchange the processor terminator/filler
card. This ends the procedure.
Continue with the following step.
Return to step 8.
The processor terminator/filler cards are
not failing, replace the failing item.
