2.16.4 Text Entry Addresses
All text entry addresses (System Text, Area Text
and Location Text) require the use of a special
text-programming mode. In this mode, the
keypad keys display different characters
depending on the number of times the keys are
pressed. See Table 21.
A character's order in the character selection
sequence indicates the number of key presses
necessary to produce the character. For example,
pressing [2] four times produces "a."

2.16.5 Exit Programming Mode
Press and hold [#]. The text keypad displays the
control panel's model number and firmware
revision number on the top line, and "Please
Wait..." on the bottom line. This message remains
for approximately 10 sec.
To reduce the occurrence of false
alarms at power-up (or restoration of
power after a complete loss of
primary and secondary power) or
upon exiting programming mode, the
control panel ignores all zone alarms
for approximately 60 sec while the
devices stabilize.

2.17 Keypad Test [#][9][1]

The keypad test function is only available to
keypads on Data Bus addresses 1 to 8. This test
does not apply to an Installer Keypad. This test is
only available to an installer.
When the keypad test begins, the keypad's
volume and display brightness (text keypad only)
are set to full on. When the test ends, the volume
and brightness return to the previously saved
settings.
Follow these steps to perform a keypad test from
a text keypad:
1. Press [#][9][1].
2. Enter the Installer PIN if prompted.
3. Press each key on the keypad when
prompted. Each key press serves as a
sounder test and display test.
4. Observe the keypad's LEDs when prompted.
This prompt occurs following a 3-second
delay after all keys are pressed and all LEDs
turn on.
5. Press [#] to end the test. The keypad returns
to the idle condition (normal display).
Follow these steps to perform a keypad test from
an LED keypad:

2. Enter the Installer PIN if prompted. All the
LEDs flash (including Status and Zone LEDs).
3. Press each keypad key. As keys are pressed, a
corresponding LED stays on solid.
