Connecting speakers

The panel provides one siren driver output for intrusion (steady), fire (temporal 3), and auxiliary (on-off-on-
off) alarm sounds. This output trips only for partition 1 alarms. Install all sirens/speakers indoors in a
concealed location.
Note:
Do not connect a bell or piezo siren to the speaker output (terminals 7 and 8).
The output can drive a single 8-ohm speaker or multiple speaker circuit of 8 ohms or higher (as shown in the
following speaker wiring diagrams). Compatible speakers are shown below.
CAUTION:
15-watt speaker (13-060)
For exterior siren applications, connect the speaker to the panel using 18-gauge wire as shown in Figure 9.

Hardwired interior speaker (60-528)
Connect interior speakers to the panel using 18-gauge wire as shown in Figure 10 on page 23.
CAUTION:
To avoid disabling the panel speaker output, do not make speaker connections with the panel power on.
Panel terminals
Connect only the large speaker to the panel terminals 7 and 8 as shown. The smaller speaker cannot handle
output to terminals 7 and 8. To avoid damaging the speaker, do not connect the smaller speaker to
terminals 7 and 8.
Splice
Two 8-ohm speakers
in series (16 ohms)
