ALS format [CALCOMP, HP-GL, HP-GL2, CALS,TIFF]
ALS is the mechanism which the system uses to detect the
language (data format) of files which do not contain a for-
mat specification in their fileheader. ALS scans the file con-
tents for clues about the data format.
