Creating a Client Image
Client Builder has created an image that contains exactly the
same data as stored on your original hard disk drive, including
the disk signature. Windows may not be able to reliably handle
two drives that have the same signature, nor detect such a situa-
tion in a manner that suits your requirements. Usually you will
want the Virtual drive to be mounted as C:, but Windows will
mount your Local hard disk drive as C: if its signature has not
changed, making the Virtual drive mounted on another letter. As
a result you must either ask Client Builder to change the signa-
ture on the Local drive, or physically disconnect the local drive
before booting off the newly created image.
Note: Changing the disk signature may have an impact on some
operating systems where the license is based on the hardware.
For example, you should not change the disk signature on a thin
client using flash to boot from Windows XPe. If your client OS is
XPe you MUST remove the local drive or flash before booting
off the image created from the local hard disk drive or flash
drive. In other cases there should be no problems in booting
from a drive changed in this way.
