The NVDDAdmin Tool
Neoware Image Manager server and the clients that use NVDAdmin
protocol can use SSL (OpenSSL) to encrypt communications. This
is mainly dedicated to configurations where a console controls a
remote server through WAN. The data sent between the console and
the server are then encrypted.
Note that SSL encryption has been disabled in Neoware Image
Manager 4.5. If you actually want to encrypt the communication
between NVDD server and NVDAdmin clients, you can set up an
SSH tunnel.
Note that the data sent by the image creation process (when Client
Builder creates the image file on the server) are not encrypted for
performance reasons and because image creation usually occurs on a
LAN, which is more secure that a WAN.
NVDDAdmin is a tool that implements a variety of NVDAdmin
commands. Most of these commands can replace "manual" opera-
tions or operations previously devoted to third party tools. Example
operations are: get the current configuration file for a remote server,
copy CVol files to a remote server in order to merge the CVol with
an existing image (image mirroring), launch the merge process on
the remopte server, etc.
The syntax for NVDDAdmin is:
nvddadmin -h:p:c:
-h <hostname>[:<port>]
The port number is not essential. If you do not specify the
you will have to use the
to the your server.
-p <port>
The default port number is 29035.
