Introduction

Neoware Active
CHAPTER 20
Cloner
This chapter describes how to use Neoware Active Cloner to clone
the current system partition to another partition.
Neoware Active Cloner is a partition duplicator that works on a file
by file basis and enables differential cloning and duplication of the
current system partition to another partition while Windows is run-
ning. The Active Cloner enables very easy back-up operations and
allows for optimized image update processes when used with
Neoware UbiBoot.
When you run Neoware Active Cloner the following steps occur by
default, but you can disable any of these steps:
1
Any files or directories on the target partition that are not on
the source partition are deleted.
2
Each file on the source partition is copied to the target parti-
tion, unless the file already exists on the target partition and has
the same time stamp and file size.
3
Registry files are created on the target partition.
4
By default, Neoware Image Manager Client components are
disabled on the target partition so that when the target partition
is used to boot Windows on a PC, Windows does not try to
mount any Neoware Virtual Drive. However, when cloning to
a partition in a Neoware Virtual Drive, the user can choose to
keep Neoware Image Manager Client components activated on
