Reload the new configuration to the NVDD server module
(either click the
Manager Console
NVDD server module).

Boot only the client that will perform the changes.

Log on to this client with a user that has enough rights to per-
form the desired changes on the volume.

Install the new application(s), patches, and modify the configu-
ration. You can reboot as many time as you want.

Once the reference configuration suits your requirements, shut-
down the client.

Modify the
nvdd
which the changes are to be made is served to the desired clients
in the desired mode (usually CVolwrite/Volatile).

Boot all your clients. Now they all can use the new application,
the new system settings are applied to them, etc.
When you use CVolwrite/Normal mode, it is possible install appli-
cations and make changes to the system volumes that survive a
reboot of the client computer. However, these changes are available
only to the actual client computer on which they have been made.
When you want to make a HD configuration that is currently only
available to a specific client to be a new common virtual volume,
you can use the
CVolMerge
from a server based CVol write cache file and the corresponding HD
image file. This new HD image file is equivalent to the logical vol-
ume composed by the client CVol file, plus the former HD image
file.
The following procedure will enable you to add a new application
that will be available to all the clients. For more details on the
tool and how to reduce the size of a CVol file using the
CVolMerge
tool, refer to the chapter "Merging Image & CVol
CVolCompactor
Files" on page 177.
