Hot Installing an Expansion Board

To install an expansion board into a PCI-X Hot Plug slot:
1. If the server is installed in the rack, extend the server from the rack.
2. Open the hot-plug door. See "Opening the Hot-Plug Door" in Chapter 3,
"Installing Hardware Options."
3. Identify the PCI Hot Plug expansion slot that you want to populate and the PCI
Hot Plug button that manages it.
4. Press the port-colored PCI Hot Plug button or use the PCI Hot Plug Utility to
power down the PCI Hot Plug slot.

CAUTION: Do not attempt this hot-plug operation if your operating system does
not provide PCI Hot Plug support or if you do not have the appropriate device
drivers installed. Failure to properly execute a hot-plug operation can halt your
system.
CAUTION: Be sure that the slot LED is off before installing the expansion board.
