3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.
4. Open and remove the compute node cover. See "Removing the compute node cover" on page 31.
5. Locate the connector for the drive on the inside of the cover.
v If you are replacing a drive, continue to the next step.
v If you are installing a new drive, remove the filler:
a. Move and hold the blue release lever at the front of the drive tray.
b. Slide the filler forward and lift it out of the drive tray.
6. Place the drive into the drive tray and push it toward the rear of the compute node, as indicated in
Figure 11 on page 37. When the drive moves past the lever at the front of the tray, it snaps in place.
Attention: Do not press on the top of the drive. Pressing the top might damage the drive.
7. Install and close the compute node cover. See "Installing and closing the compute node cover" on
page 32.
Statement 21
CAUTION:
Hazardous energy is present when the compute node is connected to the power source. Always
replace the compute node cover before installing the compute node.
8. Install the compute node into the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis. See "Installing the compute
node in an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis" on page 76.
9. If you replaced the part because of a service action, verify the repair by checking that the amber
enclosure fault LED is off. For more information, see "Compute node control panel button and LEDs"
on page 9.
Removing a solid-state drive carrier
If your solid-state drive (SSD) carrier needs to be replaced, you can remove it from the compute node.
