3. Press the power-control button to turn off the compute node. See "Turning off the compute node" on
page 11.
4. Wait at least 30 seconds for the hard disk drive to stop spinning.
5. Open the release handles, as shown in Figure 5 on page 29. There is one release handle. The compute
node can be moved out of the bay approximately 0.6 cm (0.25 inch).
6. Pull the compute node out of the bay.
7. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.
8. Place either a compute node filler or another compute node in the bay.
Reseating the compute node in a chassis
Reseat the compute node.
About this task
To reseat the compute node, complete the following steps:
Procedure
1.
Perform a virtual reseat of the compute node.
To perform a virtual reseat by using the IBM Chassis Management Module (CMM), go to
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.8731.doc/
unmanaging_chassis.html.
To perform a virtual reseat by using the IBM Flex System Manager (FSM), go to http://
pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.8731.doc/
unmanaging_chassis.html.
2. Is the problem resolved?
Yes:
This ends the procedure.
No:
Continue with the next step.
3. Remove and replace the compute node into the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis.
a. Remove the compute node from the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis. See "Removing the
compute node from an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis" on page 29.
b. Install the compute node into the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis. See "Installing the compute
node in an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis" on page 76.
Removing and replacing tier 1 CRUs
Replacement of tier 1 customer-replaceable units (CRUs) is your responsibility.
