Express-VR7 User's Guide
PICMG COM.0 R3.1
1. Introduction
Warning: this is an EA (early available) engineering manual, meaning contents might not properly reflect the actual/final version of the product
The Express-VR7 is a COM Express® COM.0 R3.1 Basic Size Type 7 module based on the new-generation and data-communication-focused AMD®
Ryzen Embedded processors (formerly "V3000") supporting up to 8 cores (Zen3) at maximum 45W TDP, up to 2x DDR5 SO-DIMMs supporting a
maximum of 64GB memory capacity at up to 4800 MT/s. All-around PCIe Gen4 support and integrated 10G Ethernet connectivity makes it suit for high-
performance, low-power-consumption, and fast-response-required applications, including, but not limited to, edge networking equipment, 5G
infrastructure at the edge, video storage analytics, intelligent surveillance, and industrial automation and control.
Additional extended operating temperature SKUs at 15W TDP (10W configurable), combined with dual-channel ECC memory features makes it fitting
for fanless architecture and mission-critical applications in extreme environments.
An integrated AMD® 10G Ethernet controller supports two 10GBASE-KR interfaces, with relevant sideband signals effectively reducing hardware and
firmware complexity for system integration. The Express-VR7 is designed to serve customers requiring optimized computing capability per watt and
high speed connectivity who want to outsource the custom core logic of their systems for reduced development time.
Input/output features include 14 PCIe Gen4 lanes, a single onboard 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet port, 4x USB 3.0/2.0 ports up to 10Gb/s, and 2x SATA 6 Gb/s
ports. Additional General Purpose SPI (GP_SPI) and remoted management dedicated IPMB are offered by project basis. Support for SMBus and I2C is
also provided. The module is equipped with SPI AMI EFI BIOS with CMOS backup, supporting embedded features such as remote console, hardware
monitor, and watchdog timer.
