How to emove the CPU Board Assembly
Perform all of the required steps listed below, if applicable:
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Disconnect all cables from the top row of connectors on the rear panel. Next, refer to
Figure 3-2 and remove the anchoring screw just above the HP-IB connector.
3. Remove the front panel assembly (see \How to Remove the Front Panel Assembly").
Remove both the left and right handle nut plates.
4. Remove the display assembly (see \How to Remove the Display Assembly").
5. Withdraw the CPU assembly from its cavity.
6. Exchange bootROM.
Note
Exchanging the bootROM must be done in order for the CPU board to
function.
a. Locate bootROM U335 on the old assembly. See Figure 3-3.
b. Use the IC extractor tool (included in the service kit) to carefully remove the bootROM.
c. Carefully insert the original bootROM into the replacement CPU board, making sure that
it is properly oriented.

7. ransfer any modi ed SIMM memory:
If the original board has a larger SIMM installed, transfer the larger SIMM DRAM to the new
CPU assembly.
Note
As shipped from the factory, all analyzers have 8 MB of SIMM memory. o
increase the amount of memory, remove the existing SIMM and replace it with
a higher capacity SIMM.
