Upgrading or Re-Installing Firmware
Firmware can be upgraded at any time without the need for the correction constants disk.
Upgrading rmware will not a ect the correction constants, but it will erase any data stored
in the non-volatile memory such as instrument states and programs. If these les are needed,
copy them to a
oppy disk before proceeding.
Firmware may be contained on one or two high-density, compressed
oppy disks which are
in LIF format (not readable on a DOS system). Firmware is shipped with each analyzer. New
rmware disks are released periodically as improvements are made. You should always keep at
least one copy of rmware in a safe place because you cannot create a rmware disk yourself.

he following is a generalized procedure. Follow any speci c instructions contained in your
rmware update kit.
How to Upgrade or e-Install the Firmware
1. Insert the rmware disk and cycle the analyzer's line power. (If two disks are supplied,
insert disk #1.) he analyzer indicates that it detects a rmware disk and is about to install
the new rmware.
2. Press
when prompted. he rmware will begin to load. If prompted, insert the
BEGIN

second rmware disk. Loading of rmware takes about ve minutes
3. When prompted, remove the rmware disk and cycle the power again. he analyzer will
indicate which rmware revision is installed; verify that it is correct.
