(Figure
2-1).
Front Panel Components of the BayStack 820 ISDN Router
Description
The ISDN port connects the router to the ISDN network. The
port has either a U interface (labeled ISDN U) for use in North
America, or an S/T interface (labeled ISDN S/T) for use in the
rest of the world.
These analog POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) ports
(labeled Phone/Fax A and Phone/Fax B) connect regular
telephones, answering machines, or fax devices to the router.
These Ethernet ports connect individual network devices to
the router. You can also set port 4/Uplink to Uplink and
connect the router to a 10BASE-T Ethernet hub using a
straight-through cable. When this port is set to Normal, you
can connect a device to the port. This switch is located on the
bottom of the router.
These LEDs provide feedback on the router's operation. The
Power LED always glows green when the router is turned on.
Several of the other nine LEDs indicate various activity or
error conditions. For a description of the LEDs, refer to
Table 2-2 on page
