CHAPTER 3 - CONFIGURING AND USING ENCRYPTION

Verify the Exported Encryption Key

After exporting an encryption key, verify that the export was successful as soon as
possible.
When Exported as RMI Download
1. Locate the file called
key when it was created.
2. Make sure that the file is more than 0 bytes in size. If the file meets these
requirements, the encryption key was successfully exported and is usable.
If the exported key file is not present or if the file is 0 bytes in size, repeat the
export process as described in
3. If desired, print or save a screen capture showing the attachment name and file
size for an audit record showing that the file was saved, and that the key file
contained information.
When Saved to a USB Device
1. Plug the USB device into a computer.
2. Examine the contents of the USB device to verify that it contains a file called
.bsk where
name
created.
3. Make sure that the file is more than 0 bytes in size. If the file meets these
requirements, the encryption key was successfully exported and is usable.
If the exported key file is not present or if the file is 0 bytes in size, repeat the
export process as described in
different USB device.
4. If desired, save or print a screen capture of the USB directory for an audit record
showing that the USB device was readable, and that the key file contained
information.
5. Store the USB device in a safe location.
