6.5 D-SHORT Cycle

CAUTION – POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT
DAMAGE:
Remove
endoscopes, accessories and
Flow
Units
from
handle
boots,
pegs, valve irrigators, large
mesh basket or accessory
basket before performing a D-
SHORT or D-LONG cycle.
Endoscopes, accessories and
Flow Units will be damaged
by decontamination cleaner
and/or high temperature.

As a preventive maintenance measure against possible formation of
biofilm inside processor and on endoscope processing support, it is
the responsibility of the Customer to complete a D-SHORT cycle on
their processor before the end of each 54-hour period.
NOTE: For a 50 Hz processor, refer to Operator Manual - Information
Supplement For 50 Hz Processors (P920501-322) for specific
information.
No cleaner or Reliance dry chemistry is used for this cycle.
STERIS recommends a D-SHORT cycle be processed at end of
each workday or at the end of the workday each Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. D-SHORT cycle is approximately 45 minutes
long.
Thirty hours after last decontamination cycle (D-SHORT or D-LONG)
has been processed, display shows:

This reminds operator to perform a D-SHORT cycle. If a high level
decontamination cycle is not completed before countdown
reaches "0", control is locked until a D-LONG cycle is performed
(see S
NOTE: If door is not opened and no touch pad or pushbutton is
pressed once D-SHORT cycle is completed (during a weekend for
example), a second D-SHORT cycle will automatically start after
36 hours so processor is ready to use on Monday if feature has been
activated in Supervisor mode. If another 36 hours passes and door is
still not opened and no touch pad or pushbutton is pressed once
previous D-SHORT cycle is completed, another D-SHORT will
automatically start. The process is continuously repeated until door is
opened or touch pad or pushbutton is pressed.
To perform a D-SHORT cycle, proceed as follows:
1. Press UNLOCK toggle switch to unlock chamber door. Open door.

2. Pull endoscope processing support out of chamber.

3. Open control handle boots "A" and "B". Ensure endoscopes are
accessory
not present in control handle boots. Close boots and hang
buckle of latch on each boot, but do not clasp.
4. Ensure baskets, valve irrigators and pegs are empty of any
endoscope accessories and Flow Units.
5. Open Reliance CDS. Ensure a Reliance dry chemistry container IS
NOT present in Reliance CDS. Close Reliance CDS cover but do
not clasp.
6. Push endoscope processing support inside chamber.
