[Mirror] radio buttons: Select the "ON" radio button when you want to take a mirror-image scan of your
document (left and right sides are reversed).
[Negative] radio buttons: Select the "ON" radio button when you want to take a negative scan (blacks and
whites are reversed).
[Panel Mode] radio buttons: Select the "ON" radio button when you want to select the Panel Operation
mode (operation is performed at the copier-scanner's operation panel). In this case, any settings
made for the [Original Size], [Original Type] and [Density] in this screen will be invalid.
[Original Size] field: Select the size of the document to be scanned. Selection is possible between
"Automatic", "Standard Size" (Refer to "
Size]"), "U1" through "U6" and "Custom". "U1" through "U6" will display custom sizes that you have
registered previously. Registration of these custom sizes "U1" through "U6" is accomplished by
selecting [Custom] first, clicking on the [Custom Size...] button and then performing the appropriate
operation in the [Custom Size Configuration] dialog box.

Metric specifications: A0 Portrait, A1 Portrait, A1 Landscape, A2 Portrait, A2 Landscape, A3 Portrait,
A3 Landscape, A4 Portrait, B1 Portrait, B2 Portrait, B3 Portrait, B3 Landscape, B4 Portrait and
B4 Landscape
[Original Type] field: Select between "Standard" and "Text/Line".
[Density] field and scale: Adjusts the level of contrast. The available selections will differ depending upon
the setting made under [Original Type].
• If [Standard] is selected as the [Original Type]...
The density can be adjusted to any 0.5 increment between 1 and 7, in any one of three settings:
"Light", "Medium" or "High". It is also possible to select "Automatic Density Detection" and have the
density automatically adjusted according to the document itself.
• If [Text/Line] is selected as the [Original Type]...
The density can be adjusted to any 0.5 increment between 1 and 7.
[Scan] button: Click on this button when you want to send the scan command and initiate the scanning
operation.
