Installing the APS Assembly in the Switch

An APS assembly consists of two back cards (a primary card and a secondary card), which are connected
by an APS connector:
Complete the following steps to install the APS assembly in the Cisco switch. The steps apply to all
switches unless otherwise noted.
Connect a grounding strap to the ESD grounding jack or to the equipment rack.
Step 1
Verify that the back cards are securely connected to the APS connector.
Step 2
For MGX 8830 only: Use a screwdriver to remove the filler bar and screws, as shown in
Step 3

The MGX 8830 APS connector is Cisco Part Number MGX-8830-APS-CON.
The APS connectors used with the MGX 8850 (PXM1E) and MGX 8850 (PXM45) switches are
