3.1 Intended Use
The 28L10 Tübingen Hip Flexion Orthosis is intended exclusively for the treatment of hip dys
plasia in infants (< 1 year).
3.2 Indications
Treatment of hip dysplasia in infants (< 1 years): type IIa, IIb, IIc hips, stable according to Graf.
Indications must be determined by the physician.
3.3 Contraindications
Consult the attending physician if any of the following occur: skin diseases/injuries, inflammation,
reddening or warming in the area where the orthosis is fitted.
3.4 Additional Restrictions for Use
The Tübingen Hip Flexion Orthosis was designed for use on one infant (< 1 year). Re-use of the
product is not permitted.
3.5 Effects
Flexion of the hip joints in excess of 90° with controlled medium abduction is the best prerequisite
for fast maturation of hip joints suffering from delayed development. The Tübingen Hip Flexion
Orthosis has proven to be highly effective for establishing this hip position. The thigh shells (5)
are connected to the shoulder harness (1) with 2 beaded cords (4) used to establish the reprodu
cible hip flexion setting. The desired degree of abduction is adjustable using a spreader bar (7).
