1.10 Confirming terminal is communicating with the
ECR
1. Ensure that the WELCOME/BONJOUR screen is displayed on the terminal.
2. Initiate a Purchase transaction from the ECR to which the terminal is connected (i.e., either
directly via USB or RS232 cable or indirectly via an Ethernet networking).
3. Wait for the terminal to display the SWIPE OR INSERT CARD prompt.
4. When the terminal displays the SWIPE OR INSERT CARD prompt, enter the card on the
terminal.
5. Follow the prompts on the terminal.
6. Once you submit the transaction wait for the APPROVED response to display.
7. If you have configured receipt printing from the terminal, ensure that the terminal has
correctly printed the Merchant Copy and the Cardholder Copy receipts.
8. Once you have performed the above steps, you will have confirmed that your terminal is
ready to process transactions in Semi-Integrated mode.
