1.4 Connecting the terminal-to-ECR communication

1. Based on your requirements, do one of the following:
Note: This step is not applicable if you are setting up the terminal to communicate with the
ECR via Ethernet networking.

To connect the terminal to the ECR via an RS232 serial cable, follow the instructions
below.
 To connect the terminal to the ECR via a USB cable, follow the instructions on page 6.
Using an RS232 serial cable connection to communicate with the ECR
a. Plug one end of the RS232 serial cable into
the terminal's Magic Box port labelled
"RS232".
b. Plug the RS232 serial connector directly
into the serial port on the ECR.
c. Go back to Read this first: Overview
procedures on page 1 (continue at step 4).
