Replacing ink cartridges

Cartridges eventually wear out. Deteriorating print quality that does
not improve when the cartridge is primed and the jet plate cleaned is a
sign of cartridge wear.
Don't attempt to install or remove an ink cartridge from the carrier
at any time without first moving the carrier away from the service
station by selecting Access Cartridges in the printer's software
control panel.
Don't attempt to manually pull the carrier out of the service station
while the printer is turned on. This can damage the printer.
Don't touch the jet plate with anything but a soft lint-free cloth for
cleaning. Touching the copper area that houses the electrical
interconnect and the inkjets can damage the cartridge.
Make sure the electrical contacts on the side of the cartridge are
clean. If they are dirty, clean with a moist lint-free cloth.
Each time you place new ink cartridges in the printer, prime and
calibrate them to ensure the highest quality printed images.
Priming and calibration are discussed on page 39.
