Jagged vertical lines
Check that the ink cartridges are properly installed; calibrate.
Clean. Prime. Calibrate.
Replace problem cartridges.
Excessive banding in area fills
Use specially coated inkjet media such as ENCAD QIS media.
Try a higher quality output mode. Draft mode will band in heavy fill areas.
Clean. Calibrate.
Portions of lines are missing
Prime.
Clean cartridge electrical contacts with a cotton swab moistened in distilled
water; repeat prime. Do not use alcohol, acetone, or other cleansers.
Poor vertical or horizontal line quality
Calibrate.
Image prints too dense or light
Adjust the gamma control in the printer driver.
Ink cartridges do not fire properly
Clean the electrical contact on the cartridge and carrier. Be sure the
cartridge is clean and dry and seated properly in the carrier.
Make sure the protective tape is removed from the cartridges.
Cartridges wear out after extended use. Try replacing the cartridge.
Prime several times. If sections of the print are still missing or contains
dashed and broken areas, the cartridge is bad and must be replaced.
Store cartridges in a sealed container at room temperature when not in use
for extended periods.
To maintain good print quality, be sure that cartridges and the service
station are cleaned periodically. Follow instructions for cleaning on pp. 34
and 44.
