Maintaining the cooling system

The high-intensity laser diode and electronics rely on a variety of components to reduce internal
operating temperatures.
Regular checkup and maintenance of the entire cooling system is critical to prevent overheating and
sudden projector failure and helps make sure reliable operation of all projector components over time.

Preventative measures
Never touch or blow on interior components.
Wear gloves (supplied)
Normally the internal parts should
not be accessed.
Never touch or blow on components.
Wear gloves (supplied).
Never touch or blow on the panels.
Check for dust build-up on blades. Inspect
harness connection for proper seating. Never
touch or blow on the fan blade.
To avoid the risk of scratching the lens, only
clean the lenses if absolutely necessary. A
small amount of dust on the lenses has little
effect on picture quality. The projection lenses
should be free of dust and fingerprints. If the
lenses must be cleaned, use a dry, soft cotton
cloth and gently rub in a circular motion.
Christie recommends operating the projector
in environments with an AQI (air quality index)
of 50 or lower. If the projector is operated in
environments with an AQI higher than 50,
additional preventative maintenance may be
required. This additional preventative
maintenance requires returning the projector
to a Christie Service Center to be
disassembled and cleaned. The time between
preventative maintenance cycles varies based
on environmental conditions.
Service guidelines
How to clean
Blow off particles with clean, dry
deionized air. If necessary, wipe in a
single direction with a clean high-
quality optical cloth.
Blow off particles with clean, dry
deionized air. If necessary, use a Q-
tip with pure isopropyl alcohol on the
glass surface. Never touch the
imaging panels. The green imaging
panel also has glass behind it.
Blow off particles with clean, dry
deionized air.
Blow off particles with clean, dry
deionized air.
Use filtered compressed air to blow
out dust and a clean lint-free cloth.
Christie recommends inspecting the
projector for contamination at least
every six months. If a build-up of
dust on the intake exists, use
filtered, compressed air to blow out
the dust and a clean, lint-free cloth
to wipe surfaces and ducts.
