High Power DC Electronic Load 63200 Series Operation & Programming Manual
When in the test conditions that hardware protection is not available such as discharging
battery test, etc., it is necessary to do external protection for hardware to prevent any hazard
from occurring. The configuration and operation for safety are described below.
To avoid unclear explosion caused by operating the hardware, the factory suggests
configuring the battery as Figure 2-3 shows to protect the LOAD for usage when doing
battery discharge test.
BATTERY
(1)
NFB: Use No Fuse Breaker, the capacity (current) needs to be smaller than the battery
maximum current so that it can cutoff when the MOSFET shorts due to aging.
(2)
R: It is recommended to install the resistance above 100kΩ1W to avoid giving LOAD
extreme voltage in a sudden.
(3)
Fuse: It is suggested to calculate the KW to be discharged for using appropriate Fuse. It
is recommended to use 20% higher.
If more than two LOADs are used for parallel discharge test, each LOAD has to add a
fuse for protection at the front.
Operating Procedure:
(1)
Before inputting voltage to LOAD, first switch on No.1 NFB to avoid giving sudden
high voltage to the MOSFET inside LOAD to cause it aging.
(2)
Next switch on No.2 NFB to begin Battery discharge test.
(3)
To stop discharge test, first press OFF on the LOAD, next switch off No.2 NFB and then
No.1 NFB to shut down the discharge test completely.
EX: When battery discharge 300V (maximum current is 100A) is in use, how to configure the
wire if to discharge 2KW?
Ans: I = P / V = 2000 / 300 = 6.6A
(1)
Since the maximum current of battery is 100A, the NFB used must be smaller than 100A.
It is suggested to use a 20A NFB.
(2)
For R, it is suggested to use 100kΩ/ 1W.
(3)
Fuse must be larger than loading discharge current. It is 6.6A so use a 10A Fuse is fine.
