Data Management

Managing tool data is of prime importance for the control of machine tools.
Among other things, the tool data cover:
tool identification,
correction value calculation,
Tool life administration,
type definition, etc.
In the Rexroth IndraMotion MTX, the tool data blocks are divided into 2 parts:
System data for the unique identification of tools
User tool data for application-specific tool data.
When the "Tools" mode is activated, the tool list that is defined as the start list
appears first. The information required for this is saved in file "ToolManage‐
mentApp.xml" and in the list configuration files homed within it. From this list,
F- or M-key functions can be used to retrieve additional configured list displays;
furthermore, the list configuration (display method) or the list query (content)
can be changed. In order to be able to completely edit a data block, the tool
editor can be retrieved from the tool list of the selected entry.
The data of the external tool corrections are maintained in a database. The
database is subdivided into database tables. Presently, 2 database tables are
available. By default, database table 1 is used for managing the data of the
external tool corrections. Accordingly, database table 2 is available for man‐
aging pallet data, for example.
The purpose of the following figure is to give an overview of the structure of the
database and an example for its use:
