6.1.6 Moving Away from the Contour/Returning to the Contour
Overview
program restart function an error message is issued and the function is termi‐
nated.
Retrieving the function "Restart" without selected NC program is not possible.
The "Move away from the contour" function is required if the execution of the
partial program is to be interrupted. After moving away, the work that requires
the program to be interrupted can be carried out.
Then the contour can be approached again and the partial program can con‐
tinue to be executed.
Interruption of a program is required for:
● Tool rupture
● Manual workpiece and tool measurement
● Visual inspections, etc.
Returning occurs using various strategies:
● Return mode
– Automatic starting in the next block
– Automatic starting in the single block
– Tangential starting
– Direct starting
– Starting via return movement program
● Point of return
– At the point of interruption
– At the start of the interrupted block
– At the end of the interrupted block
