6.2.3
Processing an MDI Block
6.2.4
Processing Several MDI Blocks
Processing Single Blocks
All lower-case letters are converted in the MDI editor. The option
cannot be used for subroutines for example that are retrieved with
path information, transformations or if axis designations contain
lower-case letters.
Automatically preselect the next MDI block when the current block has
been processed:
If the processed MDI block is not the last NC block in the MDI editor,
the next NC block is automatically preselected after the MDI block is
executed (corresponds to "Single block").
Do not automatically preselect the next MDI block (default setting).
The purpose of the "Note" is to alert the MDI editor user to the possibility
of processing a block of NC blocks.
A block of NC blocks is always processed "en block" (similar to
"Next block") in the NC.
Procedure for processing a block:
1. Enter the block in the MDI editor.
2. Pressing the <F4> "Apply MDI block" or <ENTER> key transfers the block
to the NC. The control adopts a status of "Ready"; the block is highlighted.
Editing is no longer possible. The text "Waiting for Start button" appears
in the status line (see
3. The MDI block is processed after pressing the "Start" key.
If the block has been successfully processed by the NC, the control
returns to a status of "inactive"; the next block can now be edited.
If the NC discovers an error in the block, the error symbol is set in
the header and the text "Reset channel" appears in the status line.
The error can be eliminated only by resetting the channel.
Precondition is the following option being set to "ON": "Preselect next MDI block
automatically as soon the current block is processed".
Up to 100 MDI blocks remain in the MDI editor. The cursor can be placed
on one of these blocks.
Pressing <F4> "Apply MDI block" transfers the block on which the cursor
has been placed to the NC. Behavior as above.
The MDI block is processed after pressing the "Start" key. Behavior as
above.
If the processed block is not the last one in the MDI editor, the next block
is immediately transferred to the NC. The "Start" button can be immedi‐
ately pressed again.
Pressing <F2> "Reset channel" terminates this cycle before the last block
in the MDI editor has been processed. The cursor comes to a halt on the
last highlighted block.
"Channel reset" changes the modal states of the NC.
