Operating safety

G
Risk of accident and injury
Have all work on your vehicle, in particular
work relevant to safety and work on systems
relevant to safety and maintenance work,
performed at a qualified specialist work-
shop. The specialist workshop must have
the necessary specialist knowledge and
tools to carry out the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose.
Some safety systems only operate when the
engine is running. Therefore, do not switch
the engine off when the vehicle is in motion.
Otherwise, the safety systems on your vehi-
cle could stop working properly and would
then be unable to protect you and other per-
sons in the manner intended. There would
then be an increased risk of accident and in-
jury.
G
Risk of accident and injury
Work or modification to your vehicle that is
not performed properly, e.g. due to cables
being routed under trims, could prevent the
safety systems on your vehicle from working
properly. The safety systems would then be
unable to protect you and other persons in
the manner intended. There would then be
an increased risk of accident and injury.
For this reason, always have any work or
modifications to the vehicle, for example
parts fitted or conversions, performed at a
qualified specialist workshop.
G
Risk of accident
A heavy impact against the underbody, tyres
or wheels (e.g. when bottoming out on
rough terrain or driving over an obstacle at
high speed) could damage your vehicle.

Introduction
Operating safety
This also applies to vehicles which are
equipped with underbody protection. If such
damage occurs, have your vehicle checked
at a qualified specialist workshop.
Work incorrectly carried out on electronic
equipment and its software could stop this
equipment from working. The electronic sys-
tems are interconnected through interfaces.
Tampering with these electronic systems
might also cause malfunctions in systems
that have not been modified. Such malfunc-
tions could, however, seriously impair the
operational safety of your vehicle and thus
your own safety.
For this reason, always have any work or
modifications to electronic components per-
formed at a qualified specialist workshop.
