Tyres and wheels
Points to remember
!
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that you only use wheels and tyres which
have been specially approved by Mercedes-Benz
for your vehicle. These tyres have been specially
designed for control systems such as ABS and
are labelled "MO" (Mercedes-Benz Original).
Mercedes-Benz can take no responsibility for
damage resulting from the use of other wheels or
tyres. Further information about tyres, wheels
and permissible combinations is available from
any Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
If you use tyres other than those tested and rec-
ommended for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, charac-
teristics such as handling, noise emissions and
fuel consumption may be adversely affected.

Moreover, dimensional variations and different
tyre deformation characteristics when running
under load or when driving with snow chains
could cause the tyre to make contact with the
bodywork or axle components. This could dam-
age the tyres or the vehicle.
!
Retreaded tyres are not tested and recom-
mended for Mercedes-Benz, since previous
damage to retreaded tyres cannot always be de-
tected. As a result, Mercedes-Benz cannot guar-
antee vehicle safety if retreaded tyres are fitted.
Do not fit used tyres unless you know about their
previous use.
G
Risk of accident
If you fit wheels or tyres other than those
tested:
the brakes or chassis components may
be damaged
the free travel of the wheels and tyres is
no longer guaranteed
You could thereby cause an accident.
nur für internen Gebrauch
Modification work on the brake system
and wheels is not permitted, nor is the use
of spacer plates or brake dust shields. Any
such modifications will invalidate the vehi-
cle's general operating permit.
Notes on selecting, fitting and replac-
ing tyres
Only fit tyres and wheels of the same
type and make.
Only fit tyres of the correct size to the
wheels.
Run new tyres in at moderate speed for
the first 100 km, as they do not devel-
op their full performance capacity until
this distance has been covered.
Fit new tyres on the front wheels first if
tyres of the same size are fitted on the
front and rear wheels.
