Active Service System
ASSYST, the Active Service System, in-
forms you when the next service is due.
Around a month before the service due
date, a message will appear in the display.

A short time after you have switched on
the ignition, you will see the service indica-
tor in speedometer display 2 for a few
seconds. Examples:
9 Service due date after
1000
1,000 km
š Service due in 10 days

The symbols indicate which type of service
is due:
9 Minor service
´ Major service

The service due date will be displayed in
days or kilometres depending on the distance
travelled.
The time between service due dates depends on
your style of driving. It increases if you:
drive with care and at moderate engine
speeds
avoid short journeys where the engine does
not reach the operating temperature

ASSYST does not record times when the bat-
tery is disconnected. To make sure that time-de-
pendent services are performed on time, call up
and note the service due date before disconnect-
ing the battery. Or deduct the number of days
the battery was disconnected from the service
due date shown.

The service indicator does not provide infor-
mation about the engine oil level. Do not there-
fore confuse the service indicator with the :
engine oil level display. You can call these up
separately ( page 24).
