Press selector button 1 in the instru-
ment cluster twice within one second.

The display shows whether the engine oil
must be topped up and by how much:
Display
The oil level is OK.
OK
You should add 1.0 litre of
–1.0 L
engine oil.
You should add 1.5 litres of
–1.5 L
engine oil.
You should add 2.0 litres of
–2.0 L
engine oil.
You should drain or siphon
HI
off the engine oil.
If necessary, top up the engine oil
( page 133) or siphon off excess oil.

Incorrect measurement
If the È symbol flashes in the instru-
ment cluster, the oil level could not be
measured correctly.
Measure again after five minutes if the
engine is at normal operating tempera-
ture.
Measure again after 30 minutes if the
engine is not at normal operating tem-
perature.

If an oil level reading is still not displayed,
check the oil level using the dipstick.
Have the engine oil level display checked at a
qualified specialist workshop. Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose as it has the nec-
essary specialist knowledge and tools for the
work required.
