!
The use of fuels that do not satisfy the re-
quirements of EN 590 could result in increased
wear or damage to the engine and exhaust sys-
tem. Do not refuel with:
Marine diesel
Heating oil
Bio-diesel
Vegetable oil
Petrol
Kerosene
Do not mix such types of fuel with diesel fuel and
do not use any special additives (exception: flow
improvers – see "Low outside temperatures").
Any damage caused by such non-approved types
of fuel or additives is not covered by the warranty.
Do not start the engine if the tank is accidentally
filled with the wrong fuel. The entire fuel system
must first be emptied.
Low outside temperatures
The flow properties of diesel may deterio-
rate at low outside temperatures.
To prevent operating problems, diesel fuel
with better cold flow qualities is available
during the winter months. Your vehicle
must be refuelled with this winter diesel at
temperatures below –5 ° C.
"Winter diesel" can be used without prob-
lems at temperatures down to around
–20 ° C.
If only summer diesel fuel or less cold-re-
sistant winter diesel fuel is available (e.g.
in Mediterranean regions), add the amount
of flow improver to the fuel which corre-
sponds to the outside temperature.
Add the additive to the diesel in good time,
before the flow properties of the diesel de-
teriorate.
nur für internen Gebrauch
Faults can only be rectified by warming the
entire fuel system, e.g. by parking the vehi-
cle in a heated garage.
G
Risk of fire
Do not refuel with petrol. Do not mix diesel
fuel with petrol. This would result in damage
to the fuel system and engine and could set
the vehicle on fire.
Flow improvers
The effectiveness of a flow improver can-
not be guaranteed for every fuel. Observe
the information issued by the manufactur-
er when using a flow improver. Only use
flow improvers that have been tested and
approved by Mercedes-Benz. You can ob-
tain information on flow improvers that
have been tested and approved by
Mercedes-Benz from any Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
