The handling characteristics of a laden ve-
hicle depend on the distribution of the load
within the vehicle. You should therefore
load the vehicle as shown in the illustra-
tions.

Please observe the following information
when loading and transporting goods:
The combined weight of the occupants
and load must not exceed the permissi-
ble gross vehicle weight or the vehi-
cle's permissible axle load.
Place heavy loads as far towards the
front of the vehicle and as low down in
the luggage compartment as possible.
Do not stack loads higher than the up-
per edge of the backrests.
Always place the load against the back-
rests of the front or rear seats.
If possible, always carry the load be-
hind a seat that is not occupied.
Whenever possible, transport loads in
the luggage compartment with the
backrests engaged in an upright posi-
tion.

If the rear bench seat is not occupied:
Insert each seat belt cross-wise in the
opposite buckle.
Secure the load with sufficiently strong
and chafe-resistant lashing material.
Pad sharp edges for protection.

Lashing material is available from any quali-
fied specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
