Windscreen wipers
Problem
The windscreen wipers are
jammed.
The windscreen wipers do not
work at all.
The windscreen wipers leave
smears on the windscreen after
the vehicle has been washed in
an automatic car wash.
Mirrors
Problem
An exterior mirror has been
forced forwards or backwards
and has been displaced.
Possible cause/
consequence
Foreign matter such as leaves
or snow may be obstructing the
windscreen wiper movement.
The wiper motor has been deac-
tivated.
The windscreen wiper drive is
malfunctioning.
There is wax or other residue on
the windscreen.

Suggested solutions
For safety reasons, remove the key from the ignition lock.
Remove the cause of the obstruction.
Switch on the windscreen wipers again.
Select a different wiper speed on the combination switch.
Have the windscreen wipers checked at a qualified specialist
workshop.
Briefly clean the windscreen with windscreen washer fluid af-
ter washing the vehicle in an automatic car wash ( page 73).
Suggested solutions
Press the mirror back to the correct position by hand.
