Electromagnetic compatibility
The following information applies to components of the Ex module group. Ex module groups
can only be used in conjunction with the basic assembly of the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA or
SIMATIC ET 200SP. The EMC limits and specifications valid for the basic assembly therefore apply:
• Electromagnetic compatibility against pulse-shaped interference
• Electromagnetic compatibility against sinusoidal disturbances
• Emission of radio interferences

Definition
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the capacity of an electrical installation to function in its
electromagnetic environment without affecting that environment.
EMC requirements fulfilled
The design of the I/O station with integrated Ex module group also meets the requirements of
the EMC directive for the internal European market.
Requirement:
It must be ensured that the design of the I/O station corresponds to the specifications and
guidelines for the electrical design.
EMC in accordance with NE21
The I/O station meets the EMC requirements according to NAMUR directive NE21.
