Plant planning
4.2 Planning the configuration of an ET 200SP distributed I/O
Note
Thermal decoupling required
For thermal decoupling of ET 200SP modules and Ex module groups, the following must be
installed upstream from the first Ex power module:
See example between
• An empty slot with a BU cover
or
• Recommendation: Potential distributor (PotDis terminal block PotDis-TB-P1-R on a PotDis
BaseUnit PotDis-BU-P2/B-B)
This enables the supply voltage to be distributed for the downstream Ex power modules.
Solutions
Pay special attention to the following when planning a plant with hazardous areas:
• Selection of the components
• Planning the potentials
• Installation of the components
Due to the possible danger of explosion, ensure that the following components are suitable for
use:
• Components that are located directly in a hazardous area
• Components with connection to the hazardous area
Planning the Ex module group
• Maximum mechanical configuration of the Ex module group (Page 39)
• Planning Ex I/O modules
– Perform the planning based on the requirements of the plant.
– If system expansions are foreseeable, consider reserve modules.
