5.1 Mounting the Ex module group
Mounting rules
Mounting the Ex module groups:
1. Mount the Ex BaseUnits.
When installing an Ex module group always start with a Ex BaseUnit for an Ex power module.
– Mounting the Ex BaseUnit for Ex I/O module (Page 53)
– Mounting the Ex BaseUnit for Ex I/O module (Page 55)
2. Mount the modules belonging to the Ex module group (Ex power module and Ex I/O
modules).
The slots for the I/O modules are created by connecting the Ex BaseUnits.
– Mounting the Ex power module (Page 54)
– Plugging in an Ex I/O module or BU cover (Page 57)
3. Optional: Mount additional Ex module groups.
4. Mount the server module.
– Installing the server module (Page 58)
Mounting components
• Fastening required for vibration and shock loads:
If the system is subject to vibration and shock, you must install a mechanical fastening
element on the mounting rail at both ends of the system.
This measure prevents the distributed I/O system from slipping sideways.
Use, for example, WAGO 249-117 or something comparable for fastening:
