Components for Ex module groups
Definition
The components described below enable connection of devices located in the hazardous area
to the SIMATIC ET 200SP HA or SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed I/O systems.
Configuration
The following figure shows an example configuration of an IO device from the components of
the distributed I/O system:

The server module completes the configuration of the distributed I/O station.

Slot for an Ex I/O module (with terminal block for connection of sensors, actuators and
other devices)

Record the current process status via sensors connected to the terminal block of the
Ex BaseUnit.

Trigger reactions in the process via the actuators connected to the terminal block of
the Ex BaseUnit.
The slot is coded by plugging in an Ex I/O module: Coding element (Page 25)
If no Ex I/O module is plugged in, a slot cover can be inserted to protect the contacts. This
is not shown in the example configuration: Accessories for the Ex module groups
