Step Procedure
1 Perform change in runtime: Read section "Actions during operation - Overview (Page 83)".
2 Simultaneously press the two release buttons
the top and bottom of the Ex I/O module.
3 Hold down the release buttons and pull the Ex I/O
module towards the front and out of the slot
Avoid pulling out an Ex I/O module at a slanted angle.
4 Use a screwdriver to lift the coding element out of
the Ex BaseUnit.
5 Insert the coding element into the removed I/O mod‐
ule.

• Insert the new Ex I/O module (different module
type) into the Ex BaseUnit until it audibly clicks
into place.
• Label the new Ex I/O module.
